The author of this website is a hopeless word, design and culture junkie who is fumbling her way through educating herself on the world around her (with help from live-in partner Dru, and $5000 a year in higher education).
There is a lot of history of myself I could go into here, but none of it is very interesting. That is, it's all pretty normal if that word is even applicable to anything any more. Perhaps what I means is that it was happy and peaceful for the most part.
I was born in the nation's capitol in the year Orwell predicted chaos of sorts, but never really lived there. I grew up in a smallish town with my parents and sister and various cats and dogs who have died now. Behind our house was a huge garden, and that place kind of crystalizes my childhood for me now.
Now - now I'm all grown up it would seem and in university living far(ish) from home with my beautiful boyfriend of one year (Dru, as I call him on here most of the time). He's not the person I thought I'd fall in love with at first glance perhaps - a basketball player - but he has a literary soul that fits neatly into mine. And I can cook, and bake - suddenly, which is surprising to say the least. I used to hate it and be totally inept at it, but now I love it. It's creative and relaxing to me.
I mostly pay for school doing design work, print in the summers for the newspaper and web all year round. I'm majoring in English Literature and International Culture Studies, because I could never really choose between the two. I'll probably end up a journalist or writer or teacher of some sort, probably with a lot of pieces of paper that say I've paid lots of money to get them. After that, I'll probably end up the crazy cat lady down by the tracks, who wears moth-eaten shawls, and throws cats at people who dare to cross her lawn.
I usually fluctuate between extremes - organized/disorganized, late/punctual, straight/bi, outgoing/quiet, happy/sad, party girl/bookworm.
I may also be slotted into the following ideologies/categories:
Feminist, left-liberal, pro-choice, tolerant, gay-loving, Canadian, tea-drinker, health-food-nut, anti-violence, red head, lactose intollerant, news nut, cynical, idealistic, leo, INTP, former insomniac, Mac addict, word/grammar junkie, agnostic, bibliophile.
And here are a few more things:
I fear the entire medical establishment.
The only people who were close to me who have died are my grandfather and my aunt, who died 3 years ago of pancriatic cancer, way too young.
I wish I wrote poetry again.
In my dreams, I have passionate sex with one or more of the following: Jamie Oliver and his Brit accent, Liv Tyler in Stealing Beauty, Johnny Depp in Chocolat (ponytail and all), and all three leads in Fight Club, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter.
I used to be hard-core into drama, and directed a play in my last year of high school. I miss that rush.
Where the Western world is headed terrifies me.
Snow and cold weather makes me depressed.
Reality TV is the devil.
"I think he's going to kill me and ride my corpse to safety..."
I'm a bit of a geek.
You can also take a look at my Diaryland profile, or my page over at hi5 - where I hang out only because all my friends are doing that... and yes, later I do plan to jump off a bridge.
There is a 40 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me Page also. Feel free to indulge, though it is slightly out of date, as I've done some changing since 2002.
